EXPECTATIONS
1. The superintendent develops and implements data-driven and research-based programs for addressing the physical, social, and emotional needs of students that are affecting their academic performance.
2. The school committee and superintendent create safe school facilities and stimulating learning environments to support student achievement.
3. The superintendent develops and implements programs and procedures for preventing school violence, fostering a drug-free learning environment, and ensuring civil preparedness.
INDICATORS
• Structures and resources are in place that students can easily access.
• Students, teachers, and parents can articulate the policies that address equity, safety, and climate.
• Surveys show that students and parents feel safe and supported and feel that schools are interesting places.
• Students and parents report that school staff members treat students fairly and that discipline is consistent.
• Data show a reduction in unsafe/risky behaviors and/or an increase in healthy behaviors.
• Disaggregated data indicate a reduction in gaps between subgroups of students in terms of unsafe behaviors, e.g., students at risk because of poverty, disability, and minority status. |
