About Infoworks!
Information Works!, Rhode Island’s official report on public
education, is made possible through a collaboration between the
R.I. Department of Elementary and
Secondary Education and the University of Rhode Island’s
National Center on Public
Education and Social Policy. Now in its sixth year,
Information Works! consists of three sections:
• A set of school report cards
• A set of district report cards
• The state report card
Each school and district has its own four-page report, which
contains charts, graphs, and tables on student achievement,
financial data on school spending, demographic information, and data
on suspensions, grievances, graduation rates, and much more. The
state report presents all of this information by district, by
school, and for the state as a whole, as well as reports on students
with special needs and on the results of the annual SALT Survey of
the state’s educators, parents, and students. This year, for the
first time, most of Information Works! exists online only. All
school and district report cards were distributed by the school
districts throughout the local community. But unlike in past years,
the school and district reports have not been published in a single
bound volume. The state report—“Information Works! 2003: Measuring
Rhode Island Schools for Change”—is available both on line and in
published format. To receive a copy, call the R.I. Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education, at (401) 222-4600 ext. 2231.
