Acrobat Reader
Instructions for Macintosh
The Rhode Island State Education Department maintains this
method for obtaining Adobe Acrobat Reader for your convenience. The most recent and
complete information may be obtained from the vendor at www.adobe.com.
Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.1 for Macintosh has Web Browsing Issues. Netscape(R) Navigator(R)
3.0 or later is recommended for viewing PDF files inside a Web browser. Netscape Navigator
2.0 can be used with limitations: for example, it will not allow you to submit a PDF form,
and operations such as printing PDF files
from within Netscape Navigator 2.0 can crash your Mac. You may also be able to use other
Web browsers that fully support the Netscape APIs.
System requirements:
Macintosh with a 68020 or greater processor
or Power Macintosh, 3.5 MB of application RAM available (5MB of application RAM for Power
Macintosh), Apple System Software 7.0 or later.
To install:
Download the Acrobat Reader installer application named "ARDR301.BIN".
You may need to use "Save Next Link As..." or
"Save to Disk"
functions of your Web browser.
After the download is complete, quit your Web browser.
The file you downloaded will be expanded to the self-extracting archive "Reader
3.01 Installer". If your Web browser isn't configured to automatically
launch an application such as StuffIt Expander(TM) to expand .hqx or .bin
files (which is available as a freeware product and is distributed with Netscape(TM),
Navigator(TM) 3.0 or later, you'll need to manually launch an application to expand the
downloaded file to produce Reader 3.01 Installer.
Double click the file "IReader 3.01 Installer". (Note: This
will cause all current Mac applications to quit.)
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. The installation procedure will ask you
to read and accept the Electronic End User License Agreement..
