Download Acrobat Reader
Instructions for Windows

The Rhode Island Department of Education maintains this method for obtaining Adobe Acrobat Reader for your convenience. The most recent and complete information may be obtained from the vendor at www.adobe.com.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01 is compatible with Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT and automatically installs a plug-in that allows it to work with Netscape(TM), Navigator(TM) 2.0 or greater, and an ActiveX control that allows it to work with Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer 3.0 or greater. This reader does
not have an expiration date.

System requirements:

Requires 386-, 486-, Pentium or Pentium Pro processor-based personal computer, Microsoft Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5 or greater, 8 MB RAM or greater, 5 MB available hard-disk space.

To install:

Download the Acrobat Reader installer application named "AR32E301.EXE" for Windows NT or Windows 95 or "AR16E301.EXE" for Windows 3.1.

You may need to use "Save Next Link As..." or "Save to Disk" functions of your Web browser.

After the download is complete, quit your Web browser.

Double click on the newly downloaded *.EXE file.

If there is a failure at any point during the installation of Acrobat Reader 3.01, the installer performs a complete uninstall. For this reason, it is important not to close the installer application by clicking its close box in the upper right corner of the background window after clicking the "Thank You" dialog box that appears at the end of the installation. If you wait for a second or two, the installer will automatically close the background windows after the installation is complete.

Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. The installation procedure will ask you to read and accept the Electronic End User License Agreement.
